Hello and welcome to my blog!

My name is Rebecca Malcolm and I'm a married mother of two incredible kids.

Two years ago I chose to start a home business to begin creating a solid income source to help secure my family's financial future all while continuing to be home for my children.

I strive everyday to be a positive influence to those I come in contact with. Some days this comes so easily while others it may take a conscious effort.

Part of staying positive is surrounding yourself with other positive people. I've been so blessed with being surrounded everyday with the most positive, inspiring women and I hope that with this blog I can be a positive, inspiration and bring some value to you!

What to do when your perfectly organized day goes amuck...

We have all had days that have been perfectly planned and organized to a "t" and then for some reason something happens which turns your perfectly planned day into a ridiculous frenzy where you feel like you are scrambling to try to get everything done.

As a mom with a career at home which is worked around my two young children, this tends to happen every once in a while. I would bet if you are a mom reading this than you are nodding your head saying to yourself " ha, that happens to me all the time!".

I must say that before I had my two children, and I had days like that I would get a bit bent out of shape and quite frustrated with the things that were messing up my day.

In the last couple of years I've really learned to handle these types of day's a bit differently. I would say I have more of a "gotta roll with it" attitude. By this I don't want to insinuate that I don't care how the day is going or that I completely throw my plans out the window and scrap the day, I really just reorganize and re-prioritize my "to do" list.

There is no sense in throwing up your arms in frustration. Here are a few tips to help you complete the tasks that really need to get done.

  • Stop and take a deep breath when you realize your day is starting to go amuck.
  • Once you've taken your 30 seconds to breath, assess what, if any appointments you have that can not be so you can begin to reorganize the rest of your day.
  • Now that you know what appointments are set and can not change take a look at the other activities that you have on your "to do list" and decide what needs to be done today and what can wait until a later time. You may have to think about the cost to you to put things off and is it worth it. For example, say you have a movie that is due back today. Is it worth the small late fee to return it tomorrow? I say "Absolutely!"
  • Be Flexible and okay with rearranging your day! Don't fight the day because it will win! Most of the time you will be much better off making some adjustments than you are trying to keep with your original schedule.
  • The most important thing to remember is to stay calm. Often life throws us curve balls and you've got to learn to adjust. The more frantic you get, the more frantic your day will be.
I have learned to multitask like you wouldn't believe! I've even been know to talk on two different phones at the same time. It's the attitude of finding a way to make it work! Sometimes that takes being a bit creative to figuring out how to get control back of your day but if you re-prioritize your tasks and stay relaxed you will be surprised how much your day really didn't get all that messed up.

When your day seems to go amuck, sometimes you just have to roll with it!

Enjoy a great day!
